About Me
I’m Dr. Michael Atkinson—former Chief Learning Officer for a global edtech company, CEO of L&D/edtech services firm SkillsSurge, professor at Brigham Young University (BYU), and an educational leader with over two decades of experience in teaching, learning, development, and technology. I love teaching, and in 2024 while teaching AI at the university the demand for my services grew strongly, leading to a formal consultancy.
My AI work spans government, corporate, and international arenas, including AI projects with the Government of Bhutan, the cities of Orem and Clearfield, Women Leading Government, Kiln, and a range of businesses across the Wasatch Front.
I integrate AI in a practical, human-centered way. Beyond teaching the “tech,” I help teams transform their soft skills—like innovation and strategic thinking—so they can enhance and augment those skills with AI. By combining traditional best practices with cutting-edge AI tools, I show organizations how to think differently, streamline workflows, and spark creativity in entirely new ways.
